Nestled amongst the heritage-rich Art Deco buildings, Moh Guan Terrace project is an exercise in balancing the old and the new.
Of lightness and charm, this home is designed for a bachelor with ambitions to recalibrate. Opting for an ambiance that is serene and calm, the choice of palette is kept neutral, accented by the warmth of wood tones, generous textures and detailing. As the homeowner works from home perpetually, carving out distinctive spaces for creating and for recharging was executed in a singular gesture focused on the flow of his daily routine.

Lightness & Charm
Natural light permeates throughout the day, offering vibrancy and dynamism to the main living area and the study. References from nature are evident on the sliding media panel that conceals the TV as well as with the limewash walls that evoke rusticity.
Shadow Play
The personal collection of the homeowner comprising posters and memorabilia fill the space, suggesting nostalgia while adding a lot of personality. Settee seating are built into the media console, creating function out of nooks.
The centrepiece of the room is a Foscarini Spokes suspension lighting at the dining area, offering a mesmerising shadow play that justifiably commands attention.

Designed to create uplifting energy, the study room is most used by the homeowner for both work and play.
An impeccably designed open bookshelf accented by brass dividers serves as a unique backdrop.
The Art of Self-Care
The bathroom, probably the most luxurious room in the house, celebrates the art of grooming and self-care. Contemporary luxury is achieved by a considered curation of materials and fittings with an emphasis on quality and organic shapes.
Horizontal three-dimensional tiles create interesting bands of light and shadow vis-à-vis limewashed walls. Iridescent teal green tiles line the shower to reference the exquisiteness of a swimming pool.
Life Uncompromised
Each of these decisions, seemingly small, delivers a significant value to the space by coming together in a concerted way. The result is an effortlessly luxurious home that feels light and easy – a representation of the homeowner’s way of living.
Geometric Lines and Silhouettes
Spokes expresses a feeling of light weight and motion. As if crossing a magical and geometrical mesh, the light filters out from the inside, projecting a kaleidoscope of blocks and voids.
Foscarini’s Spokes 2 pendant light features a stunning, lightweight shade that brings in mind aviaries, antique oriental lanterns and, from down below, spokes. The designers, Vicente García Jiménez and Cinzia Cumini, were inspired by the graphical nature of bicycle wheels and named the pendant after their delicate metal parts. The unique shade consists of a series of softly curving steel wires that form a pleasant, round shape.
A Nourishing Space
The casual and cosy ambiance is carried through into the kitchen space. With a tonal approach, a clean and minimalist expression is achieved. Top of line appliances from Fisher & Paykel are selected for their modern aesthetics and ease of use.
